FAQs

Q.

When should families begin planning for the college admissions process? Families should start thinking about college by the end of sophomore year. Most clients start working with Laurie between that time and the end of junior year. Laurie can help students find meaningful summer activities if she engages with a student before the end of the school year. She also can help determine if a student should take an honors or AP class, if offered.

Q.

How does this college coaching process work? For clients who need help with the entire process, Laurie will initially review a student's transcripts, activities and current class schedule. She will also discuss college preferences with both the student and parent(s) and work to build a balanced college list. When it comes to essay help, Laurie brings a journalistic perspective to essays - please read Laurie's Process page for more details. All packages include unlimited virtual meetings and initial in-person meetings for local clients.

Q.

Will you write my essays for me? No, it is not ethical for Laurie or anyone else to write essays directly for students. Using my custom approach, I guide students throughout the writing process to craft their own writing via a series of outlines, drafts, and edits. Proceed to the Laurie's Process page to learn more.

Q.
